History

 

A Swedish chemist by the name of Carl Arrhenius picked up a coal like rock in a feldspar mine near Ytterby, Sweden. Johan Gadolin, a Finnish chemist, acquired a sample from Arrhenius and conducted research upon the piece. Gadolin discovered the the sample contained a new element, Yttrium.
